SSI fetches best reviews amongst 3 Friday releases

Three films released last Friday – DELHHI HEIGHTS, KHANNA & IYER and SAY SALAAM INDIA.

Quite unexpectedly, out of the three, SAY SALAAM INDIA has turned out to be the most liked movie amongst the three. Though this doesn’t mean much for it’s box office performance since none of the 3 releases have made much mark, what works in the film’s benefit is that it has been most liked by both critics and audience when compared to the other two.

It was always anticipated that due to presence of Jimmy Sheirgill and Neha Dhupia coupled with hit music by Rabbi Shergill, DELHHI HEIGHTS would turn out to be most liked, but that didn’t quite happen. On the other hand in spite of big wig Subhash Ghai as the film’s producer, KHANNA & IYER hasn’t created any ripples whatsoever.

Call it ironical that SAY SALAAM INDIA that only has Sanjay Suri as the known name with everyone from producers to the director [Subhash Kapoor] being rank outsiders, has got good reviews all over with only the release timing being the factor going against it.

It must be noted that SAY SALAAM INDIA is about living with the spirit of the game and is centered on cricket. Due to Caribbean debacle, the word ‘cricket’ isn’t quite charming the audience due to which any buzz or hype whatsoever has been missing around this film.

There is good hope though that once the dust settles down and cricket fans come out of the ‘sadma’ they have been treated to since India’s losses, the film would relive in the DVD version and would be able to get all its audience which it truly deserves.
